Recently we’ve been involved in a software where the user needed:

  • to see the whole year
  • that it was divided into sections
  • that all sections were visible in a glance.

It’s not a trivial problem so we started searching for the best way to display it. We had a specific use-case: a tariff configuration software connected to specific hardware (the entire project), where we needed it to display how an year is divided into 4 different periods. After some design and development we landed to a solution.

The result turned out to be very different from a traditional calendar view, so we decided to release it open source. We received a warm reaction, and we made it to the top of Hacker News for a while.

The calendar is available on Github and npm.
