May 24, 2024, h 15:00 · online

A live session led by our product designer Eugenia Valentini in conversation with Belka founder Giulio Michelon on how to create responsive components using variables.

On the agenda:

  • The trouble with responsiveness
  • Why reducing variants is a solution
  • Leanig numeric and boolean variables with Eugenia
  • Q&A: time for your questions!

‍

In case you are wondering...Yes, this event will be held in English and is free and open to all. It will also be recorded: if you miss it and are subscribed to our newsletter, you'll receive the links to watch it again after the event.

‍

What you will learn

When designing a component in your design system, one big thing you have to keep in mind is how responsiveness. How does the component act on all those different screen sizes?

To make sure it behaves just like we want, we must look out for all the little details. However, it can be overwhelming to handle sizes, typography, paddings and element visibility across multiple component variants. So what can you do?

Eugenia, in conversation with Giulio, will share her experiences with variables. You'll get the chance to explore new ways of using them, including ways that aren't often talked about: numeric variables and boolean variables.

Eugenia will walk you through a resource created by Belka's team on Figma. Thanks to a magic trick you will learn how to reduce the number of variants and simplify your component maintenance — from four variants to just one! After the webinar we'll send you Eugenia's Figma file so you can practice on your own.

Let's talk about you

This webinar is for any designer working on a fast growing digital product - or a mature product - with a design system already in place (or at least some components already in use). You know how to build a component and are looking for short cut and new ways to improve your working processes.

Our experience

Belka helps tech companies, startups and scaleups grow their digital product faster through the magic of design systems.

We have worked with successful startups includig indigo.ai and Coverzen and supported the most well-known digital products in Italy — Fatture in Cloud, NeN, Spiagge and Subito — in their growth.
